The rescheduled Enugu South Urban State Constituency rerun poll is set for Wednesday, February 14, and INEC says it is 100% prepared.
Rex Achumie, the chief of INEC’s voter education and publicity section, assured reporters in Enugu on Tuesday that sufficient preparations had been made for the poll.
Mr. Achumie stated that by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the commission would get the confidential documents from the CBN in front of the political parties and other interested parties.
He stated that the sensitive materials would be distributed before to the poll at 8:00 a.m. from the state INEC Headquarters in Enugu.
He promises that the result sheet problem will be fixed and that errors won’t occur again.
The exercise was postponed because there were not enough result sheets at the polling places for the rerun to take place on February 3.
Mr Achumie said, “We will also have effective monitoring and supervision as the bulk of our top management staff will be in the field to ensure that all goes well.
“We are calling on the electorate in the eight polling units in the Uwani axis of Enugu metropolis to come out en masse to cast their votes for their preferred candidates.”

Emeka Ngene of the LP and his PDP opponent, Sam Ngene, would slug it out for the 4,618 votes in Ward 5, where the rescheduled rerun election would hold.
INEC declared PDP’s Mr Ngene, who polled 5,862 votes in the March 18, 2023 election, the winner and issued him the certificate of return.
Although the Court of Appeal did not nullify the election result, it ordered a rerun in the ward due to some irregularities.
