Impact of Air Pollution on the Respiratory Health

Air pollution is an environmental issue that affects human health in various parts of the world. It is caused mainly by the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere from vehicles, industries, generators and so on. One of the major places where air pollution is harmful is on respiratory health, mainly for people with bad respiratory conditions.

The respiratory system is responsible for taking in oxygen to the body and removal of carbon dioxide from the body. The pollutants present in the air can cause inflammation and damage to the respiratory system, which will cause respiratory problems such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and may even lead to premature death.

1. Asthma:

One of the most common respiratory problems caused by air pollution is asthma. Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that can cause inflammation of the airways, which will eventually lead to symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, and difficulty in breathing. When exposed to air pollution asthma will eventually come in and attract people with the condition, making it harder for them to breathe and increases the risk of getting treated.

2. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

COPD is another respiratory disease that is closely related to this pollution. It is a disease that causes difficulty in breathing and chronic chronic cough. COPD is normally caused by the long exposure to air pollution, mainly from cigarette smoke and industrial pollutants.

3. Lung Cancer:

Lung cancer is also strongly associated with air pollution. The pollutants present in the air can damage the cells in the lungs, which will eventually lead to the development of cells that causes cancer. Long exposure to pollution is also known to increase the risk of getting lung cancer.

These includes reducing the pollution done by vehicles and encouraging the use of public transportation, using efficient appliances that Conserves energy. Reducing the use of harmful chemicals and other harmful substances, and enforcing strict regulations on industrial emissions.

In conclusion,

Air pollution is an issue that has an impact on our respiratory health. The pollutants present in the air can cause various respiratory problems, including asthma, COPD, lung cancer and eventually death.
