Imo State Government Denies Uzodimma’s Alleged Vice Presidential Ambition for 2027

The Imo State Government has strongly refuted circulating reports suggesting that Governor Hope Uzodimma harbors ambitions to run for Vice President in the 2027 election. This follows the appearance of a widely shared poster online, depicting the Governor as the running mate of Abdullahi Ganduje, the current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is portrayed as the party’s potential presidential candidate. The poster, titled “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027,” has sparked considerable discussion.

However, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, dismissed the poster as baseless and deliberately misleading. In a statement released on Sunday, Emelumba categorically denied any vice-presidential aspirations on behalf of Governor Uzodimma. He described the poster as a product of “mischief makers” aiming to create friction between the Governor and President Bola Tinubu.

Emelumba emphasized that Governor Uzodimma has remained a steadfast supporter of President Tinubu, consistently rallying national support to ensure the President’s success. The Commissioner remarked, “The idea that Governor Uzodimma is eyeing the Vice President’s office is not only absurd but also laughable. His focus is firmly on fulfilling his responsibilities as the Governor of Imo State, especially as he progresses through his second term.”

He further stated, “For clarity, Senator Hope Uzodimma has no interest in running for Vice President in 2027 or at any other time. Any claims to the contrary are nothing but fabrications, aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary tension.”

In a pointed critique, Emelumba accused opposition parties of spreading this fake news to sow discord between President Tinubu and his loyal supporters. He urged those responsible for these falsehoods to cease their activities, which he warned could undermine the harmony between federal and state governments.
