Disturbed by the enormous number of abandoned corpses in its mortuary, the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri, has told the owners three weeks to claim them or they will be mass buried. Although the actual number of corpses was not given, the notification began on the date of the announcement. Dr. Kaunda Ibebuike, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, issued a statement yesterday requesting that individuals whose relatives are missing visit the hospital’s mortuary within the specified time frame. He added that if the dead are not claimed within three weeks, the management will be forced to conduct a mass burial.
“The public are by the notice advised to go and remove their loved ones abandoned at the morgue.
“Others who are in search of missing relations, should as well check the morgue before the end of the three weeks timeline slated for the mass burial,” the statement said.
