Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has expressed his willingness to collaborate with like-minded individuals for the advancement of Nigeria. In a statement posted on his official X account, Obi clarified his stance, emphasizing that his priority remains Nigeria’s development rather than political ambitions for 2027.
Reacting to recent misinterpretations of his interview on News Central TV, Obi dismissed claims that he is focused on future elections while the nation grapples with urgent challenges such as hunger, poverty, and insecurity. He condemned those distorting his words, calling them “fifth columnists” engaged in propaganda.
Obi reiterated his openness to working with others, provided their intentions are genuine and not driven by state capture. He stressed that any collaboration must align with his vision of improving Nigeria, especially in education, by returning millions of out-of-school children to classrooms.
The former Anambra State Governor also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party and emphasized that his commitment to Nigeria’s progress is unwavering, regardless of whether or not he holds a political office in the future.
