Tiwa Savage, a renowned singer, shared her experiences of facing challenges in her music career in Nigeria due to her outfits being deemed too revealing. In an interview with BET, she revealed that she was often prevented from performing at concerts because her outfits were considered too risqué, which was seen as a cultural issue.
Additionally, some of her early music videos were not aired on television due to being deemed indecent, even though she wasn’t wearing bikinis.
Despite these setbacks, Tiwa Savage remained determined and continued to push the boundaries with her fashion choices. She noted that while she was initially criticized online, her fanbase and followers grew, leading to increased demand for her music, which ultimately led to her being invited to perform at shows and have her music played on television.
In a separate development, Tiwa Savage revealed the inspiration behind her newly released movie, “Water & Garri.” She shared that the idea for the movie came to her while she was intoxicated in her room, and her team supported her vision, seeing it as a brilliant idea.
