HELICOPTER CARRYING IRAN’S PRESIDENT CRASHES

Iran is facing a tense situation as rescue teams struggle to locate President Ebrahim Raisi, whose helicopter, traveling in a convoy, crashed in a remote area near Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province. The incident occurred as President Raisi was returning from inaugurating a cooperative dam project on the border with Azerbaijan, signifying warming relations between the two nations.

Details on the crash are still emerging, but reports indicate that the president, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials, was onboard the helicopter. While two helicopters from the convoy returned safely, efforts to locate the missing passengers have been impeded by adverse weather conditions, including heavy fog and rain. Rescuers are facing challenges navigating the forested terrain where the crash occurred.

The Iranian government has called for prayers for President Raisi’s safety and the well-being of those aboard the aircraft. In the president’s absence, Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will assume authority, ensuring continuity of governance. As the situation unfolds, the world watches anxiously for updates on the search and the condition of the missing passengers.
