Tuesday morning, armed individuals, perhaps abductor groups, stormed the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) located in Ituku Ozalla, Enugu state.
A female deputy director, a security guard, and nursing services were also taken hostage by the gunmen when they were at the hospital.
Riding in a sport utility vehicle (SUV), the deputy director was followed to the hospital’s grounds at approximately nine in the morning.
Our correspondent was informed by hospital sources that the gunmen fired straight at the woman’s vehicle, causing her to stop and then quickly taking off.
In a widely shared video, the car was seen abandoned and had glass on the passenger side of the front that had been shot through.

The hospital administration and the Enugu State Police Command have not yet verified the attack.
One of the sources said that the incident occurred at the same location where a medical doctor was abducted a few weeks ago.
“This is so sad; we are not safe at all in this hospital; everywhere is porous,” a distressed staff member lamented.
