Suspected gunmen attacked a military checkpoint on the Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-Edda highway in Edda Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
The incident, confirmed by the Ebonyi State Police Command, took place in the early hours of Friday. According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, the attackers operated on motorcycles and targeted the military checkpoint.
“We received information from the Owutu Police Division indicating that hoodlums attacked a military checkpoint this morning. It is currently unclear if there were any casualties,” DSP Ukandu stated.
As the investigation unfolds, the authorities are working to gather more details about the perpetrators and the impact of the attack.
