Jude Nnam, a celebrated Christian music composer popularly known as “Ancestor,” has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen in Umunnachi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State. The abduction occurred on Thursday, November 14, 2024, around 6 p.m., shortly after Nnam attended a church programme in the area.
Jude Nnam serves as the National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and is a member of the National Liturgical Commission of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN). He is revered for his contributions to liturgical music in Nigeria and beyond.
The news of Nnam’s abduction was shared on social media by Rev. Fr. Augustine Mario, who urged Nigerians to pray for the musician’s safety and quick release.
“Please kindly keep Sir Dr. Jude Nnam (Ancestor) in your prayers,” Fr. Mario posted. “He was allegedly kidnapped yesterday evening around 6 p.m. in Umunnachi, Anambra State. May God grant him safety and a quick release from his abductors. Amen.”
Another Catholic priest, expressing his frustration, lamented the state of insecurity in Nigeria. “If this is true, then it is a huge shame. I’m simply tired of this unfortunate space called Nigeria. Jude Nnam Ancestor! It is well. Fada Mentor,” he wrote.

The abduction comes shortly after Nnam celebrated his 50th birthday and ministered at the highly anticipated Unusual Praise 2024 event at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha. His recent milestones have added to the shock and sadness of his sudden disappearance.
