Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has extended a warm invitation to Nigerians living in the Guangdong Province of China, urging them to invest in the ambitious New Enugu City project. The call was made during a strategic roadshow held in Guangzhou, aimed at attracting investments from Nigerians, particularly the Igbo community, and Enugu indigenes.
The roadshow was organized to showcase the potential of New Enugu City, a flagship project designed to transform the state into a premier destination for business, tourism, and innovation. According to Uche Anichukwu, Mbah’s Senior Special Assistant, the governor emphasized the project’s strategic importance to Enugu’s economic future.
Governor Mbah assured potential investors that the first phase of critical infrastructure for the city would be completed within the next 12 to 18 months. The China Communications and Construction Company (CCCC), the primary contractor, has been actively working on the project since October 2023. Mbah expressed optimism, noting the enthusiastic response from attendees and their willingness to take part in the groundbreaking development.
“The New Enugu City is designed as a smart city that will set the standard for modern living and business in Nigeria,” Mbah explained. He further added that the project will feature cutting-edge infrastructure, offering amenities such as high-speed internet, reliable power, water supply, gas, and advanced medical facilities. The city will also include residential zones, a sports complex, and an Innovation Park, which is poised to host tech companies and corporate headquarters.
Mbah reiterated that the New Enugu City is one of the largest real estate developments currently happening in Nigeria. The city aims to position Enugu as a leader in sustainable urban living and economic growth.
