Governor Alex Otti to Restructure Abia Pilgrims Welfare Board

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has committed to restructuring the Abia Pilgrims Welfare Board in preparation for the upcoming pilgrimage to the Holy Land. This announcement was made during a visit by a delegation from the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, led by its Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, to Otti’s residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

Governor Otti acknowledged the significant role the church played in his political journey and expressed his gratitude to Bishop Adegbite for recognizing the progress made by his administration. He reassured the delegation that his government remains dedicated to impactful leadership, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the people.

“Our administration is committed to doing what is right. We view leadership as a service to the people, and neglecting their welfare is tantamount to failure,” Otti stated.

The governor also highlighted his prudent management of state funds, noting that his administration has avoided borrowing, with any future borrowing plans strictly earmarked for investments.

He mentioned that the arrangements for the 2024 Christian Pilgrimage to Jerusalem are ongoing, with the current cost standing at N5 million. Adegbite assured that the specific cost for pilgrims from Abia would be announced once state support is finalized.

The bishop also lauded the governor’s achievements since assuming office, which has been a little over a year.
