Governor Alex Otti Establishes Council to Boost Business Environment in Abia State

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has launched a new council dedicated to improving the ease of doing business within the state. The inauguration took place on Monday, with Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu appointed as the Chairman.

In his address, Governor Otti highlighted the significance of this initiative, describing it as a pivotal step in making Abia State a more business-friendly environment. He emphasized that the council’s primary goal is to streamline business operations and attract more investment to the state.

“Today marks a very important milestone in repositioning Abia State as we inaugurate this crucial Council dedicated to the ease of doing business. The members have been carefully selected, and their tasks are well-defined,” stated Otti. “We have already seen some progress, moving from 33rd to 21st place in national rankings within a year and two months. However, our ultimate goal is to reach the top position.”

Governor Otti underscored the state’s strong business foundation, noting that approximately 80% of Abia’s citizens are engaged in various business activities. This, he said, necessitates creating a conducive environment for business growth and sustainability.

“We are committed to either doing things right or not doing them at all,” Otti continued. “While rankings are important, our main focus is on genuinely making business operations seamless in Abia State.”

Expressing confidence in the council’s ability to deliver results, the governor anticipated significant improvements in the state’s business ranking. “We aim to achieve a substantial leap from our current position, aspiring to move from 21st to the top 10 within a year, and eventually to the number one spot. I believe this is achievable.”

In his response, Deputy Governor Emetu, speaking on behalf of the council, thanked Governor Alex Otti for the opportunity to serve. He assured that the council would strive to make Abia State a premier destination for investment.
