Former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello’s female ADC, along with several other police officers linked to him, has been apprehended and held by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The officers were detained on suspicion of aiding Bello’s evasion from EFCC operatives who sought his arrest in Abuja. This development is part of an ongoing probe into alleged wrongdoing by the ex-governor.
Although specifics are scarce, authorities are conducting a comprehensive inquiry to ascertain the officers’ role in facilitating Bello’s escape.
While the Nigeria Police Force has yet to issue an official statement, insiders suggest potential charges for the officers could include obstruction of justice or conspiracy to impede law enforcement efforts.
Yahaya Bello served as the governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024.
