A significant fire at the head office of a well-known commercial transport company in Aba, Abia State, caused significant losses. The company is based on the well-known Milverton Housing Road.
The amount of damage exceeds millions of naira.
According to reports, a spark from a generating set started the fire, which spread to other areas of the building and sprayed Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) on them, making the situation worse.
The company’s operations manager, Mr. Ikechukwu Nwosu, confirmed that the fire originated in the plant house and stated that they spotted a spark as one of their employees went to turn on their generator so they could pump water around the business.
Nwosu claimed that the loss was enormous and pleaded with the government to assist them, stating that the extent of the harm could not be measured.
He went on to say that the fire destroyed four vehicles, including his boss’s private SUV, two luxury buses that were being repaired, a delivery van, three dispatch motorcycles, four generating sets, and other crucial documents like receipts from customers and unbilled items.

He expressed his gratitude to the Aba State Fire Service personnel, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Aba Areas Commander, and other individuals who made it possible to put out the fire and preserve the security of other properties.
Governor Alex Otti stated that the park’s dense population was a prescription for catastrophe while visiting the firm to assess the extent of the damage.
Otti went on to say that in order to relocate some of the cars at Milverton Avenue, the government would investigate alternative parks at Osisioma and Port-Harcourt Road.
Also speaking, the Mayor of Aba South, Chief Uche Nwogu described the incident as most unfortunate but thanked God that no life was lost, “We thank God that no life was lost. We thank God that Abia is working. We thank God that we have a Governor who is very sensitive to the plight of the people. “The Fire Service is working. The day was saved by the Fire Service. So it is unfortunate that in a small place like this, we have a diesel dump which might have aggravated the fire incident.”
