The Nigerian government has launched its inaugural AI tool. Developed in collaboration with leading local and global tech firms, this innovative solution is set to redefine AI capabilities both domestically and internationally.
The Minister emphasized the importance of linguistic diversity by announcing that the Language Model Models (LLMs) powering the AI tool will undergo training in five underrepresented languages and accented English. This strategic approach aims to enhance language representation within existing datasets, laying the foundation for more inclusive and effective AI solutions.
Additionally, the Minister revealed plans for the relaunch of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, in partnership with cybersecurity leader Cisco. Positioned as Africa’s premier hub for technological advancement, this initiative will drive research and development in cutting-edge fields such as AI, robotics, and the Internet of Things.
By bolstering the capacity of NCAIR as a digital innovation and research facility, the government aims to spearhead transformative technological initiatives aligned with Nigeria’s national interests.
