Federal Government Declares May 1st Public Holiday for Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, May 1st, as a public holiday in celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.

 

The declaration came through a statement from the Ministry of Interior, delivered by Permanent Secretary Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, representing Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

 

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the government, emphasized the importance of excellence, efficiency, and fairness in all labor sectors. He reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to promoting innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in workplaces.

 

Highlighting the theme of ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, the minister affirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing citizens’ well-being. He underscored President Tinubu’s commitment to creating a conducive work environment conducive to individual growth and national development.

 

Recognizing workers’ contributions, he urged collaborative efforts to address climate change challenges through sustainable practices and policies, fostering well-being and upholding national values of integrity, diligence, and compassion.

 

The minister encouraged Nigerians to support the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda while extending warm wishes for a joyous celebration to all workers.
