Ex-PDP Senatorial Candidate Defects To APC In Ebonyi State

Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, a former senatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ebonyi Central Zone, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is in power in Ebonyi State.

Along with his more than 3,000 supporters, he defected on Monday, signalling the collapse of the PDP, the dominant opposition party in the Ezza South Local Government Area.

This occurs two weeks after Obinna Ogba, the former senator from Ebonyi Central, and Obinna Nwachukwu, the candidate for the House of Representatives, joined the ruling APC in the state’s Ishielu Local Government Area.

Shortly after the defection that occurred at the Ezza South Local Government Area Headquarters in Unueke, Ogbee, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the governor, was praised for the several ongoing initiatives in the state.

He claimed that instead of joining forces with the party’s stakeholders to establish the party in Ezza South, he did not defect to the APC in order to undermine it, as was purported.

He exhorted fellow Ezza South residents to board the moving train that will propel their neighborhood’s expansion and advancement.

“I’m here today to declare that l won Ezza South in the 2023 general elections. No political party has ever won any party l belonged since l joined politics in Ezza South LGA. It’s on record. This is the best time to rejoin my political family for the progress of the Area.

“The APC-led administration in Ebonyi State under Francs Nwifuru is doing well that’s why I am joining the party. His style of leadership prompted me to conclude and decided to resign and join the fold.

”My defection sends ripples through Ebonyi State’s political landscape, it remains to be seen how this move will impact the upcoming elections and the overall dynamics of the state’s governance.

”I am watching to see how this development will shape the political landscape in the state in the days and months ahead.

”I am a respected figure in Ebonyi State politics, l made a bold step today as l officially announced”.

Emegha welcomed the defectors and said that the APC is here to serve and accept everyone.

He urged all Ezza South residents and lawmakers to put aside their disagreements in order to concentrate on creating a more robust and prosperous future for the state.

He urged his members to welcome any member of the opposing party who wants to become a member of the party.

“Do not restrict people from coming to APC, don’t segregate. Tell them, let everybody come. Let us come together. The house is more than enough to carry all of us”, he stated.
