The Enugu State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalize the education sector, focusing on the smooth transition of graduates from Smart Green Schools to advanced learning institutions. The state is constructing 17 Smart Senior Secondary Schools and eight Science, Technical, and Vocational (STV) schools across its 17 Local Government Areas and eight Federal Constituencies.
The announcement was made by the Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, during a parade featuring primary and secondary schools as part of the celebrations for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day in Enugu. Prof. Mbah highlighted education as a foundation for true independence, showcasing the achievements of students in the Enugu Smart Green Schools.
One notable success is the Smart Green School at Owo, which opened in January with 865 students and 27 teachers. The school emphasizes experiential learning and sustainability, with initiatives like seed testing, smart farm programs to support school meals, and using robotics to develop smart home models. The institution also attracts international partnerships for projects like water purification systems.
