The Enugu State Police Commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has issued a firm warning to residents to disregard calls for a two-day sit-at-home protest organized by a pro-Biafra group. The protest, set for October 21 and 22, 2024, was planned to affect five southeastern states and parts of Delta, Rivers, and Kogi.
In a statement issued through the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Uzuegbu emphasized that the video calling for the sit-at-home was baseless and intended to incite fear and unrest. He assured residents that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are fully prepared to maintain peace and protect lives and property across the state.
The commissioner urged citizens to go about their normal activities without fear, stressing that Enugu had moved beyond such illegal sit-at-home orders. He further warned that any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt public order would face severe consequences.

Uzuegbu also advised parents and guardians to caution their children against participating in activities that threaten the state’s peace, noting that the legal repercussions would be significant.
The police chief reaffirmed the state’s commitment to stability and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement for prompt action.
