Enugu Police Chief Urges Caution Amidst Planned Nationwide Protest, Reveals Potential Threats

In light of the upcoming nationwide protest and the need to safeguard public safety and critical infrastructure, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has issued a stern warning against any form of violence or disruption. Intelligence reports have surfaced indicating plans by criminal elements to infiltrate and hijack the protest, posing a serious threat to law-abiding citizens and property.

CP Uzuegbu highlighted that these criminal groups aim to replicate the chaos witnessed during the End SARS protests, intending to attack citizens, destroy property, and engage in looting. He assured the public that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are prepared to decisively tackle any threats posed by these elements.

While acknowledging the constitutional right of citizens to peaceful assembly and protest, CP Uzuegbu emphasized the importance of ensuring that such activities do not devolve into violence. He urged organizers to reconsider their plans in light of the intelligence reports and explore alternative, peaceful methods to voice their grievances.
