Enugu State Command’s Central Police Station (CPS) collaborated with the Neighbourhood Watch Group in a successful operation resulting in the arrest of Ikenna Chiege, 28, on March 13, 2024. Chiege was apprehended at New Jerusalem, Bunker Camp 2, Coal Camp, Enugu, with a toy pistol, allegedly intended for robbery.
Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), credited proactive policing strategies for the arrest. Investigations suggest Chiege and his accomplices, still at large, have been implicated in multiple armed robbery, burglary, and theft cases across Enugu, particularly in Coal Camp and surrounding areas.
Chiege appeared in the Enugu North Magistrate Court today, March 15, 2024, where he was remanded in the Correctional Custodial Centre. This arrest underscores the commitment of the Enugu State Command to combatting crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
