According to Comrade Ben Asogwa, the chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria‘s Enugu State Council, fired employees of the Enugu State Water Corporation are free to carry out their regular responsibilities.
Asogwa stated that the state governor had not given his approval for the business to terminate the appointments of twenty personnel when he and other labor leaders from the state spoke to the corporation’s employees on Tuesday.
“As far as the governor and government of Enugu State are concerned, no worker has been disengaged because there are provisions for disengaging workers found wanting for any reason in the Enugu State Civil Service Rules, 2014,” Asogwa stated.

Asogwa claimed that at the meeting between the labor leaders and Dr. Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State, the governor expressed disapproval of the development and gave the workers his word that he would not support any measures that would cause them suffering.
He then gave the order for all impacted employees to report back to their places of employment.
The labor leader expressed gratitude to the governor for consistently demonstrating his concern for workers’ interests through both words and deeds.
In order to guarantee that the people of Enugu State receive more effective service, he continued, “But I must also urge all workers in the state to be law abiding and very diligent in the discharge of their duties for which they are paid.”
Remember that the Enugu State Water Corporation recently terminated the appointments of twenty staff, citing incompetence and subpar performance, including missing deadlines.
