The Enugu North Magistrate Court in Enugu State, Nigeria, has delivered a decisive verdict, sentencing Ejike Okorie and Christopher Kindness, both residents of Ameke Ngwo in Udi LGA, to three years imprisonment. The judgment, without the option of fine, comes as a response to their involvement in a series of criminal activities, including ‘one-chance’ robbery, abduction, and fraudulent schemes targeting unsuspecting victims across Enugu metropolis.
Following their arraignment by the Enugu Police Command, the duo was found guilty of conspiracy and abduction in the Enugu North Chief Magistrate Court. The sentencing underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat crime and ensure justice for victims.

Recalling the events leading up to their apprehension, on April 14th, an enraged crowd intercepted the suspects, prompting swift police intervention. The perpetrators were subjected to mob justice, with their criminal minibus set ablaze at the P-and-T bus stop, Okpara Avenue, after reports of the victims’ abduction surfaced.
Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), commended the Court’s prompt handling of the case while emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law. He urged citizens to support law enforcement efforts by reporting criminal activities and refraining from engaging in vigilante justice, emphasizing the significance of due process in achieving justice.
