Enugu Community Entrusts New Hospital to Deity Following Equipment Thefts

In a bid to safeguard their newly constructed general hospital, the Ogurute Ulo community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State has taken an unconventional step by entrusting the facility to a local deity. This decision comes after a series of thefts, including the disappearance of an ambulance, TV sets, and solar panels.

The community’s drastic measure was highlighted in a video where a spokesperson voiced the collective frustration over the persistent thefts. “The people here today are members of the Ogurute Ulo community,” he began. “This is Ogurute Ulo General Hospital, built for us by the government. They provided us with essential equipment such as solar batteries, an ambulance, and TV sets. However, these items have gone missing in a very short time, leaving us deeply unhappy.”

In response to the recurring thefts, the community has decided to seek protection from the local deity. “We have agreed to hand over this General Hospital to the deities here,” the spokesperson declared. “Anyone involved in the thefts, whether man or woman, will face the consequences from the deities.”

This unconventional move underscores the community’s desperation and the challenges they face in maintaining security for public resources. The Ogurute Ulo General Hospital, intended to serve the healthcare needs of the local population, now symbolizes the community’s hope for divine intervention in protecting their assets.
