Residents and stakeholders of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area in Enugu State have expressed their strong support for Governor Dr. Peter Mbah and party leaders following the nomination of Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for the upcoming local government elections in October.
The communities have hailed Ezugwu as the clear and deserving choice for the position, dismissing recent media criticisms of his candidacy as baseless and malicious attempts by detractors to undermine his integrity and the progress of Uzo Uwani.
In a joint statement, the respected traditional ruler of Nkpologu community, HRH Igwe Simeon Idu, alongside Igwe Jude Okeke of Nkpunator autonomous community, commended Governor Mbah and the PDP delegates for their wise decision in endorsing Ezugwu. They described him as a dedicated leader who has consistently served Uzo Uwani in various capacities, including as a former PDP Youth Leader, former Councillor for Nkpologu Ward, and Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Uzo Uwani LGA.
“The Igwe in Council and the Town Union of Nkpologu Attah community express deep gratitude to Governor Dr. Peter Mbah and the PDP delegates for nominating Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu as our chairmanship candidate. This decision reflects both wisdom and a strong conviction in his ability to lead,” the statement declared.

Ezugwu’s tenure as CSO was particularly highlighted, with leaders praising his instrumental role in maintaining peace and security in Nkpologu and the surrounding areas during the previous administration. The community leaders strongly condemned the unfounded attacks on Ezugwu, attributing them to individuals with ill intentions seeking to tarnish his reputation.
“We are outraged by the baseless accusations against Chief Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, which are clearly intended to defame a man of integrity and dedication. Ezugwu is a respected legal practitioner with an unblemished record, never having faced any charges or convictions. Nkpologu community, through its leaders, will not tolerate further slander or defamation and stands ready to take legal action against those who attempt to spread falsehoods,” the statement warned.
The Nkpologu Attah community reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ezugwu, vowing to stand by him in all his political pursuits.
