Enugu APC To Re-absorb Suspended Members

APC stakeholders declared over the weekend that the party was open to accepting new members and reintegrating those who had been suspended or expelled. Following the party’s stakeholders’ conference in Enugu, an eleven-point communiqué containing the decision was made public. Recall that the Enugu APC banned or expelled notable members due to purported anti-party conduct shortly after the general elections in 2023.

Ken Nnamani, the former president of the Senate, Geoffrey Onyeama, the former governor of the state, Sullivan Chime, Eugene Odoh, the former speaker of the state assembly, Osita Okechukwu, the former chairman of the state party, Ben Nwoye, and most recently, Mrs. Ginika Tor, the member representing Enugu State on the Federal Character Commission (FCC), were among those who were either suspended or expelled.

But in the communiqué, read by the party’s state Secretary, Robert Ngwu, the stakeholders said that the review of the suspension or expulsion of any member would be “contingent on sincere repentance and abandonment of sabotage instincts, fifth columnist, anti-party acts and all divisive actions.”

The stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the State Executive Committee (SEC), led by the State’s APC Chairman, Ugochukwu Agballah, and the leader of the party in Enugu State, Uche Nnaji, who is the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

“Their leadership was credited for the strategic enhancement of the party’s position within the state. The meeting served as a platform to reaffirm that APC, at the state level, is united,” the communiqué reads.
