French Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, announced heightened security protocols for the upcoming Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona on April 10, 2024, following a perceived threat from the Islamic State (IS).
Darmanin revealed that IS had issued a threat targeting all quarter-final matches scheduled for April 9 and 10, including PSG’s showdown with Barcelona at Parc des Princes. He assured the public that law enforcement agencies had significantly bolstered security measures in response to the situation.
A reliable source close to the matter disclosed to AFP that IS had issued a threat against the Champions League quarter-finals, albeit not specifically targeting France, through one of its communication channels.
