The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) vehemently denies recent allegations circulating in a prominent national newspaper under the headline: “EFCC Stopped Service of Charges on Binance Chief, FIRS Alleges.”
In a statement released on Friday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale rebuked the report as unfounded, deceptive, and divorced from the factual proceedings within the court.
Oyewale clarified, “There has been no instance where a court bailiff approached the EFCC to serve any charges on the detained Binance executives. During the most recent court session, Moses Ideh, representing the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), did not raise such concerns before the court. Rather, he simply acknowledged that the Service had yet to serve the defendants.”
The EFCC’s position underscores the importance of accurate reporting and adherence to factual accuracy in legal matters, especially concerning high-profile cases.
