The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has declared his unwavering commitment to ensure the prosecution of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, reaches its conclusion.
Speaking at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja, Olukoyede asserted that he would resign from his position if Bello is not brought to justice. He pledged to hold accountable all those who hindered the apprehension of the former governor.
The EFCC is pursuing charges against Bello amounting to N80.2 billion, including allegations of money laundering, breach of trust, and funds misappropriation.
Olukoyede emphasized the agency’s dedication to combating corruption and urged Nigerians to support their efforts, highlighting the impact on the nation’s economic stability.

In a recent court proceeding, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Bello’s legal representation to receive a copy of the charges due to the former governor’s absence.
Despite attempts to challenge the charges, Bello’s legal team was directed to acknowledge the accusations. Meanwhile, the EFCC has maintained its stance, asserting that Bello’s evasion does not exempt him from legal proceedings.
