EFCC Arraigns Fake Fertility Nurse for N28.2 Million Fraud in Enugu

The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a woman, Blessing Amaka David-Agwa, for allegedly posing as a fertility nurse and defrauding victims of over N28.2 million. She was brought before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Independence Layout, Enugu.

David-Agwa faces 45 charges, including impersonation, forgery, and obtaining money through false pretenses. The EFCC alleges that she deceived unsuspecting victims by pretending to be a medical fertility nurse, promising to help them conceive through specialized fertility treatments.

One of the charges states that David-Agwa fraudulently obtained N1.6 million from Okenwa Joy Chiamaka, claiming to be a certified fertility nurse. In another instance, she allegedly swindled N1.25 million from Amarachi Okpala under similar false pretenses. Both counts violate Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges. The EFCC counsel, Blessing N. Obasi, requested the court to set a trial date and remand the defendant at the Enugu State Correctional Facility pending trial.
