While acknowledging the legitimate right of the labor movement to protest, the DSS implores them to reconsider their plans in the interest of maintaining peace and public order.
Citing concerns over potential escalation and violence, the DSS calls for a shift towards dialogue and negotiation to address grievances, emphasizing the ongoing efforts of authorities at various levels to tackle economic challenges. The agency warns of the potential exacerbation of socio-economic woes should protests escalate into widespread unrest.
In an appeal to citizens, the DSS draws upon the wisdom of poet JP Clark’s “The Casualties,” reminding of the dire consequences of escalated conflicts. The agency underscores the importance of preserving internal stability and unity, cautioning against actions that could destabilize the nation’s peace.
