The governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has sanctioned a new minimum wage of N70,000. This announcement came during the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024, held on Saturday.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized that he has instructed the appropriate government departments to develop a plan for the implementation of this new wage, which is set to take effect in September.
However, Governor Nwifuru also expressed dissatisfaction with the sluggish progress of certain government projects that had been contracted to notable state leaders. He particularly highlighted the housing projects in Izo Autonomous Community, located within the Ishielu Local Government Area, as areas of concern.
To address these issues, the governor has directed the Commissioner for Housing to ensure that the houses are painted without further delay. Additionally, he encouraged residents of Ebonyi State to promptly report any instances of project delays caused by contractors.
