The Ebonyi State Government has banned 29 contractors in charge of the ongoing housing estates for the resettlement of the Izzo and Amaeze Autonomous Communities in the State’s Ishielu LGA. They were blacklisted for poor performance and forbidden from further employment in the state.
Jude Chikadibia Okpor, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, made this statement while briefing journalists on the conclusion of the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.
“Council considered the report on the performance of different contractors handling jobs in the ongoing Estates for the resettlement of Izzo and Amaeze Autonomous Communities in Ishielu Local Government Area.
“Council approved the blacklisting of 29 contractors for unsatisfactory performance and barred them from executing further jobs in the state”.
The Commissioner also stated that the government was striving to resettle displaced people from the proposed ICT University Site in the Izzi Council Area of the State.
“Council approved a memo on the resettlement of families displaced following Government acquisition of the Site for the establishment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) University at Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi Local Government Area.
“Council directed the Commissioner for Tertiary Education to prepare and submit to Council a detailed proposal for consideration in subsequent Council Meetings”, he added.
