The Department of State Services (DSS) has again blocked legal access to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), despite a standing court order permitting his legal team to meet with him. Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s Special Counsel, has condemned this action, citing it as a clear violation of judicial directives.
In response, Ejimakor confirmed that all paused legal proceedings to enforce compliance with the court order will resume with renewed vigor. He stated, “In open disregard for an active court order, the DSS today barred Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team from visiting him. Consequently, we will advance all previously suspended legal actions with full force.”
Earlier in the week, Ejimakor expressed that the DSS could face consequences from the Federal High Court for continually obstructing Kanu’s access to his lawyers. The court, presided by Justice Binta Nyako, previously warned that DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi could face imprisonment for contempt if this disregard persists.
The DSS’s ongoing actions defy the court’s previous ruling, as Kanu’s legal team prepares to pursue intensified legal measures.
