In a dramatic turn of events, Mrs. Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, the Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Diaspora Affairs, has been stripped of her honorary chieftaincy title, the Uzoyare of Ozalla. This title, previously conferred on her by King Nathaniel Igelugbo Omogbai, the Onotare of Ozalla Kingdom in Owan West Local Government, has been revoked following allegations of misconduct.
The controversy stems from an incident on April 12, where Oduwa-Malaka reportedly disrespected the monarch by requesting him to meet her in her car upon her arrival at the palace. This action, deemed disrespectful by the traditional ruler, led to the swift revocation of her chieftaincy title.

In an official statement issued by the palace’s spokesperson, Dr. Osumah Obaze, the decision to revoke Oduwa-Malaka’s title was made to uphold the dignity of the throne and deter others from similar acts of disrespect.
Additionally, another individual, George Ohioma, a lawyer who held the title of Ozemevboya of Ozalla, also faced the revocation of his title in connection to the incident. The palace’s actions serve as a stern warning against any behavior perceived as undermining the authority and respect due to the traditional institution.
