A devastating cholera outbreak in Ndibokote village, Ezza Inyimagu, located in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has resulted in the tragic death of at least 10 individuals. Among the victims is a nursing mother who tragically left behind her 9-month-old child.
The outbreak, which began earlier this week, has sparked concern in the region, with local health officials working tirelessly to contain the spread of the disease. According to reports, around 20 others affected by the cholera epidemic are currently receiving treatment.
Dr. Moses Ekuma, the Commissioner for Health in Ebonyi State, confirmed the unfortunate deaths during a briefing at the Iziogo Health Centre. He emphasized that swift action is being taken by the state government to manage the crisis, including the establishment of three treatment centres in the most affected areas—Ndibokote village, Sudan Mission, and Onuenyim.
The Commissioner applauded the proactive steps taken by the Ebonyi State government, specifically acknowledging Governor Francis Nwifuru’s quick approval of funds to provide medical supplies and essential support for those affected by the outbreak.
