Chinese Companies, Others Participate In Enugu Trade Fair

The 35th Enugu International Trade Fair is now taking place, with companies from Rwanda, China, and many other states participating. Odeiga Jideonwo, president of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining, and Agriculture (ECCIMA), announced on Sunday that the number of participants and exhibitors had increased. The fair started on Friday.

Mr Jideonwo said that due to the increasing number of companies and corporate entities coming to showcase their goods, services, and ideas, “it is difficult to give the total number of participating companies and corporate entities at the fair.”

He stated that the event provided excellent possibilities for industrialists, investors, buyers, and sellers from within and beyond the country to network, exchange business ideas, and share experiences in order to boost investment and overall economic progress. According to him, ECCIMA is committed to continuing the endeavour and improving the standards of Nigerian-made items in order to increase their awareness. Mr. Jideonwo stated that it was time for the public and private sectors to work together to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and over-regulation by government bodies.

He stated that such measures will help small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) grow. He stated that no economy could expand if its SMEs were not performing, and that the growth of SMEs was positively correlated with GDP growth. The president stated that Nigeria should place a strong emphasis on building a favourable environment for SMEs, which continue to be the backbone of the country’s economic progress.

“We are calling on the Federal Government and its agencies created to support the development of the micro, small and medium enterprises to closely work together with the organised private sector.

“This will help to fill the gap relating to the provision of collaterals and other related issues hindering the accessibility of credit by this sector, to unleash the development of this critical sector of the economy,” he said.
