Popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, famously known as ‘Bobrisky,’ has pleaded guilty to four counts of naira abuse and money laundering leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a Lagos court.
Bobrisky made his appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos at approximately 11:50 a.m. for his arraignment on charges related to money laundering and abuse of the naira.
Originally facing six counts, negotiations between the involved parties led to the dismissal of two charges, leaving Bobrisky charged with counts one to four, to which he pleaded guilty.
Responding affirmatively when questioned about his understanding of the charges, Bobrisky openly admitted, “Yes, I am guilty.”
The charges primarily revolve around incidents of naira abuse, with the additional allegations of money laundering. According to the EFCC Prosecutor, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rotimi Oyedepo, alongside a team of seven other lawyers, the charges detail specific instances of naira abuse, including tampering with sums of money while dancing at social events.

The case also encompasses charges of failing to submit declarations of activities related to his business, Bob Express, during the period between September 1, 2021, and April 4, 2024, resulting in substantial sums being paid into the company’s account, as detailed in counts five and six.
Bobrisky’s admission of guilt marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings, as the court prepares to deliberate on the appropriate consequences for his actions.
