Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, highlighted the alarming prevalence of banditry and terrorism in Nigeria. Reacting to the tragic attack on Yargoje village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Atiku expressed deep concern over the growing frequency of such incidents.
The Katsina Police Command confirmed the devastating toll of the attack, which resulted in the loss of 20 lives, including police officers and members of the state-owned Community Watch Corps. Atiku lamented the government’s apparent helplessness and indifference towards these recurring atrocities, despite substantial allocations to the defense sector.
Expressing sympathy for the victims’ families, Atiku urged the federal government to prioritize the protection of citizens’ lives and property. He called for swift and decisive action to address the escalating insecurity plaguing the nation.
