Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly criticized the recent spate of abductions targeting internally displaced persons (IDPs), teachers, and schoolchildren in Borno and Kaduna States.
In a statement shared via his official handle, Atiku expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation, particularly citing the abduction of 287 students from the Government Secondary School in Kuriga, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, and the abduction of over 200 IDPs from Ngala LGA of Borno State.
The former vice president lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, holding it responsible for failing to ensure the safety and security of citizens. Atiku highlighted the alarming frequency of banditry, kidnapping, and violence plaguing the nation, describing Nigeria as one of the most terrorized territories globally.

Attributing the escalating insecurity to governance failures, Atiku emphasized the government’s negligence towards addressing fundamental issues and providing essential security measures. He criticized the government’s lack of responsiveness and accused it of neglecting the welfare of vulnerable citizens while indulging in empty rhetoric about reforms.
Expressing concern for the plight of abducted individuals, Atiku called upon security agencies to intensify efforts and rescue innocent citizens from the grip of banditry and terrorism. He underscored the constitutional mandate of the government to prioritize the security and welfare of its citizens, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive action to curb the escalating crisis.
