Chikwe Udensi, a previous candidate for governor of Abia State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has charged that the current state administration rushed the Aba Geometric Power Project’s commissioning in order to gain credit.
Udensi called the initiative, which Vice President Kashim Shettima recently unveiled in the state’s Osisioma Ngwa local government area, a poor publicity gimmick and said it was not yet time to put it into action.
The APGA leader stated he was in contact with Aba locals and the reaction shows that there is no power, let alone uninterrupted, during his appearance on “Open Parliament,” a current affairs program on Wednesday that DAILY POST monitored from Umuahia, the capital of Abia.

He mentioned the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery and the Ajaokuta Steel Company as examples of hastily started projects that weren’t ready for operation, adding that the Aba Geometric Power Project followed suit.
He stated that before commissioning the facility, the state government ought to have given it some time and made sure it was fully operational.
Residents of Aba were earlier urged to exercise patience by a representative of the Geometric Power Project, as measures are being taken to guarantee that the project is fully utilized.
Udensi expressed gratitude to the prior governors’ administration, particularly to Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, for their significant contributions to making the initiative a reality.
While criticizing Professor Barth Nnaji, the Chairman of Geometric Power, for his assertion that the Abia State government never provided funds for the project, he insisted that this was untrue, citing the project’s substantial sponsorship from the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
