APC Women Protest Against their Leader, Demands Her Resignation

Dozens of women took to the streets in Abuja, demanding the resignation of the All Progressives Congress’ National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele. Allegations include negligence and mismanagement of donated resources.

Accusations against Alile-Idele involve the alleged diversion of a portion of the 24,000 wrappers donated by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. The protesters, displaying banners with slogans like ‘Enough is Enough!’ and ‘APC Women Leader Must Go,’ urged for her removal, citing actions undermining female party members.

The agitation intensified following claims that only a fraction of the donated fabrics was distributed. Coordinator of ‘Concerned APC Women,’ Rebecca Sheneni, highlighted concerns about Alile-Idele’s focus on personal interests over party responsibilities, including promoting her NGO instead of party objectives.

Efforts to reach Alile-Idele for comment were unsuccessful, but supporters deny the allegations, stating that all states received their allocated fabrics. However, skepticism remains, with some attributing the accusations to political agendas.

The controversy underscores a call for transparency and accountability within the APC’s leadership, as members seek clarity amidst the unfolding developments.
