Anambra State Police Ban 7/7 Cult Day Celebration, Issue Stern Warnings to Hotels and Bars

The Anambra State Police Command has officially banned the planned 7/7 cult day celebration scheduled for Sunday in Awka, the state’s capital. The Command emphasized the illegality of such gatherings and warned hoteliers, bar owners, and event center operators about the severe repercussions of hosting such events.

In a statement released on Saturday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, reiterated that any cult-related activities are strictly prohibited under the newly-signed anti-cultism law. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Ikenga stressed that the police are prepared to enforce the relevant laws against anyone participating in cult activities or actions that threaten public security. He stated, “The police will not hesitate to invoke the newly-signed anti-cultism law on anyone caught in cult-related activities or any act capable of undermining security in the state.”

The police command assured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. Ikenga called on all criminal elements and the general public to avoid actions that could disrupt the state’s tranquillity. “Criminal elements and other members of the public should desist from anything capable of jeopardizing the peace and tranquillity in the state,” he said.

Hoteliers, bar owners, and event center operators were specifically cautioned to prevent any cult-related gatherings on their premises. The police warned that any establishment found accommodating such activities would face serious consequences.

The Anambra State Police Command highlighted its continuous efforts in combating cult-related incidents and maintaining the gains achieved in ensuring public safety. The police remain resolute in their mission to protect lives and property and will take decisive action against any group attempting to undermine these efforts.
