The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, participated in the ongoing Local Government elections by casting his vote at Ofuiyi Square, Umueze, Isuofia Ward 13, Aguata Local Government Area. Arriving at polling unit 002 at around 11:45 a.m., Soludo joined residents in exercising their civic duty.
Speaking with journalists after voting, Soludo expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the election. According to him, reports from various polling units across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state indicated that the voting process was peaceful and orderly.
Governor Soludo called on Anambra residents to participate actively in the election, emphasizing that it was essential for strengthening local governance. He praised the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for ensuring a prompt start to the voting exercise.
“This voting process is a promise kept,” Soludo said. “This is a significant example of how Local Government elections can be conducted transparently and effectively. I commend ANSIEC for their efforts in ensuring an orderly process.”
Soludo highlighted that reports showed citizens were voting peacefully across the state. “From the information I’ve gathered, the election is progressing smoothly here and in other parts of the state. People are showing great enthusiasm, which is encouraging for the future of local governance in Anambra.”
He noted that his party was the only one that fielded candidates for all 21 chairmanship and 326 councillorship positions, emphasizing the dedication and preparedness of his administration.
“This election feels like a mock referendum of our achievements so far. We are optimistic that the will of the people will prevail,” Soludo concluded.
