A state of emergency on hunger and security has been demanded by eight Labour Party (LP) members of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Additionally, the legislators have encouraged state governors, including as Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra, and President Bola Tinubu to temporarily halt all infrastructure projects.
At a news conference held at the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex, the legislators stressed how urgent action is required to put Nigerians’ security and food first.
They announced that they would forgo their base pay for the ensuing half-year in an effort to ease the suffering of the people.
“His Excellency, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu should suspend work on all other sectors, including infrastructure, for the next six months and declare a state of emergency on security and hunger in the nation,” said the press release following their meeting.

“All state governors, including our dear governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, should suspend all infrastructural development in their various states for the next six months and declare a state of emergency on security and hunger.”
The legislators showed support for their party’s leader, Mr. Peter Obi, and applauded his support of the interests of the average person.
They emphasized the seriousness of the problems faced by average Nigerians and backed Obi’s plea for immediate action to the nation’s hunger and security problems.
