In a recent interview with a local radio station, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, made a bold prediction regarding the political future of Abia State. Kalu, who represents the Bende Federal Constituency, asserted that Alex Otti will be the last governor of Abia State to represent the Labour Party. He expressed his belief that the next governor would come from the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling a shift in the state’s political landscape.
Benjamin Kalu stated, “This will be the last time that a Labour Party Governor will govern Abia State. I say it without mincing words—the next governor of Abia State will be from the APC.”
Despite his friendship with Governor Otti, Kalu emphasized that the people of Abia State would soon show their appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his contributions to the region. He cited Tinubu’s efforts to appoint Abians into key positions and attract democratic dividends to the state as reasons for this anticipated shift in political allegiance.
Kalu also hinted at the APC’s strategic preparations for the upcoming 2027 elections, confidently asserting that the party will determine who becomes the next governor of Abia State. He noted that regardless of the candidate, the APC would be the platform to produce the next leader of the state.
