According to reports, Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyeomereneche, an Air Force cadet, passed away in a swimming pool disaster on Tuesday. In Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, he passed away in the swimming pool of the Damgrete Hotel. The dead visited the facility to go swimming during a period when the pool was being renovated.
However, it’s unclear if the victim knew about the ongoing repair project before jumping into the swimming pool. Afterwards, his body was found by members of the Abia State Fire Service, and the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia eventually declared him dead. The fact that he was saved wearing his swimming trunks suggests that he had practiced swimming before the sad event.

On Tuesday night, at approximately 6:37 p.m., he was reported missing from the pool; however, he was found at approximately 9:58 p.m. It was said that the swimming pool was in poor condition, which made the rescue mission challenging. Prior to the arrival of state fire service personnel, sources say that no divers were available to aid in the rescue operation. Lt. Innocent Omale, the Army Public Relations Officer for 14 Brigade, Ohafia, verified the occurrence.
He claimed that the deceased Onyeomereneche was reportedly hanging out with his pals when he made the snap decision to dive into the swimming pool. The circumstances around the cadet’s death are still being looked into as of the time this story was written.
