On November 4, 2024, the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) successfully conducted a congress in Umuahia, resulting in the election of Elder Abraham Amah as the new state chairman. Amah, who previously served as the party’s Vice Chairman and acting Publicity Secretary, secured a decisive victory with 1,264 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Olugu Kalu, who garnered 395 votes.
The highly competitive congress also featured candidates such as James Okpara, Godwin Okoro, Kingsley Imaga, Olugu Kalu Ogba, and Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma.
In his acceptance speech, Amah expressed profound gratitude to party stakeholders and delegates for their trust and support. “I am honored by the confidence placed in me, and I commit to fostering robust engagement and reconciliation within the party,” he said. Emphasizing the importance of unity, Amah added, “We will revisit the founding ideals of the PDP and work towards bringing back those who have departed, reinforcing our strength.
