Abia Governor Praises Residents for Not Partaking in #EndBadGovernance Protests

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has commended the people of Abia for heeding his call to refrain from participating in the ongoing #endbadgovernance protests, which have led to significant destruction and loss of life in other regions.

Speaking during a service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Aba South, Governor Otti expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the residents. “I thank you all for not joining the protests, despite the challenging conditions we face. Your decision has prevented further disruption and potential harm,” Otti stated.

In a recent state broadcast, Governor Otti had emphasized the right to peaceful protest but voiced concerns over the possibility of hoodlums hijacking the demonstrations, which could derail the progress made by his administration. “Two wrongs do not make a right,” he reiterated during his address to the church congregation.

Governor Otti highlighted the reliance of many Abia residents on daily earnings, such as traders, Keke riders, barbers, and taxi drivers. “Disrupting their activities would only worsen the hardships we aim to address,” he explained.

In his address, Governor Otti also assured the congregation that School Road, which is in poor condition, would soon be repaired. “As I arrived, I noticed the state of the road. Rest assured, it will be fixed soon,” he announced, to the congregation’s delight.

The governor praised the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for their unwavering support since his first election campaign in 2015 and urged them to continue praying for his administration.

During the service, Pastor Ifeanyichukwu Nwaoguikpe delivered a sermon titled “Living out the Christian Slogan,” urging Christians to fulfill their mission on Earth by preaching the gospel and helping those in need, citing the parable of the Good Samaritan.

The church’s officiating ministers prayed for the governor, his entourage, and the state of Abia.

Notable attendees included Hon. Ucheonye Stephen, the lawmaker representing Aba Central State Constituency; Apostle K.C. Wiper, Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs; Hon. Uche Nwogu, Mayor of Aba South; and Sir Emmanuel Nwaeze Otti, Acting Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State.
